Let’s catch up! (Pretend I bought you a drink. A really nice, expensive one, cuz hey, as long as we’re pretending … )
Whew, so a break over Christmas turned into a 9 month-long hiatus. I’ve missed you all! Since I finally got this beautiful watercolor art up on our banner (painted by our friend and watercolor artist Bethany Eden), I thought it was high time to get back into the swing of things and show you all her lovely work. My personal favorites are the ginger and the fish head. If you like what you see (I mean c’mon, how could you not?!), check out her work at her website and of course her Etsy shop.
So, 9 months. Goodness a lot has happened. It’s almost long enough to gestate a human child. Which, speaking of …
OK, so here’s the ultra-quick run-down:
Dec 2014: Daddy Bean starts his new job in communications for a growing Chinese mobile app company.
Jan 2015: We settle into our first apartment near Columbus Circle.
Feb 2015: We find out we’re pregnant with baby #2! [Gahh! Whoohoo! Wait, 2 kids while learning to hack it in NYC? Are we insane?!!] Mar 2015: DBean travels pretty much the entire month for work – Barcelona, Beijing and San Francisco.
Apr 2015: Some normalcy, thank God!
May 2015: We apply for middle-income subsidized housing at Gotham West. (Yes, subsidized housing! God bless this city and its amazing affordable housing programs!) The promise of double the space for the same rent we’re paying now beckons! We are pulled in by its siren song!
Jun 2015: Two trips to CA for weddings, and we’re approved for the subsidized housing!
Jul 2015: DBean travels a ton for work again; a big-bellied, lumbering MBean invites everyone in the world over to help pack up their apartment.
Aug 2015: Another trip to CA for a wedding, for two weeks – this time Daddy Bean’s dear old dad is getting re-married!
Sep 2015: We move into our new digs and take a much-needed family babymoon to Disney World. Here’s a photo. Look at Baby Bean’s face. He could not be more excited.
And now, a look at coming attractions:
Nov 2015: Baby #2 enters the world! Little man is super excited to have a baby brother. I, on the other hand, in my sleep-deprived and whale-like state, am bracing myself for the blur of unbrushed teeth, piles of laundry and general lobotomy that typically accompany a newborn. Pray for us.
Now that we’re all caught up … I’m planning some posts on the subsidized housing application process, and a look at our new place! I also have lots of recipe posts saved up. Stay tuned!
